Quoted from a friend Eric Epie from FB comments, I was indeed "bitten by the fashion bug". It was my first exposure in fashion photography and I would say I was overwhelmed yet very rewarding as I was able to apply some tips given to me by Eric. Thanks to you Eric.
I met Eric through my daughter's classmate as they both hang out after school. I learned that he is into events photography, and so that started the whole story since we both have a common interest. I asked for tips about shooting in low light condition because that's where I struggle the most and he graciously shared it to me.
Discussions kept going, sharing pointers, giving tips until a topic went on to a Fashion show event. He had an invitation to participate in a Fashion Show called " Park Luxe 2013" and he asked me if I wanted to come with him as guest, saying this would be a great opportunity to apply what he had just shared.
A mix of feeling anxious and excitement penetrates my inner senses as we enter the hall of Telus Spark, my eyes rolled continuously as I saw the fashionistas and socialites of Calgary in their glamorous attire. I tried to freeze my eyes from closing so I can see those gorgeous women parading in front of me.
I have been in sales for more than a decade working for multinational company and we regularly host or attend a formal party for executives, dignitaries and diplomats but these were kinda boring, people from the fashion event were dressed boldly, sometimes out of this world and they have no fear to express their fashion statement.
A tall voluptuous woman slightly bumped my arm and that made realize I was there to shoot, so I stopped mesmerizing and forced myself to come to my senses.
I was sitting side by side with professional photographers waiting for the show to start, I could see their high end gadgets and equipment hanging on their shoulders or strapped on their waist. I was so envious but I was confident I could reach their status too.
Models started to hit the runways with their own style of projection as they walk down the ramp, some boldly bumped their hips left and right, some took a snappy turning of heads and most of them with the signature no smile-snubby look effect or no-expression at all.
It was a very fruitful experience.
