At one point in time, in my younger years, I had my own share of experience with Japanese anime, it was a beautiful experience having been glued on tv most of the time after school watching Voltes V, Power Rangers, etc. Like any other kids, I was so fascinated with the characters, the story, the actions of Japanese anime, there was something in there that reflects their culture which makes it so distinct and unique from the rest.
When I learned of Otafest her in Calgary, I feel like I went back in time during my childhood days. It was an awesome experience seeing these kids of the new generation enjoying their moments with this kind of activity. This time, my part was to capture memories of these kids having fun with the festival.
"Otafest" as quoted from their web, is a Calgary based non-profit organization expressing the values of charity, quality, and transparency. The body of our activity pertains to the promotion of Japanese art, culture, and media in the Canadian community, and the organization rests firmly on the spirit of community collaboration and volunteerism.
